Mask II

Remzija Đumišić
Zagreb, second half of the 20th century
patinated terracotta
purchased from the author
inv. no.: 999

Two masks made of patinated terracotta, created in Zagreb in the second half of the 20th century, are on display. One mask has a sad expression, while the other features a smile. They are designed to be exhibited together, representing the dualistic nature often associated with the symbol of theater. However, these masks are distorted, rugged, grotesque, and frightening, drawing closer to the human subconscious than to theater. The sculpture Mask II is the smiling mask.

Alongside the original sculpture, there is a copy made of acrylic available for visitors to touch.
