The foundation writing machine is a tool for writing in Braille. It was produced by the L.C. Smith & Corona company in the United States between 1933 and 1947 for the American Foundation for the Blind. It is estimated that around 2,500 units were manufactured.

The museum acquired the typewriter from the Vinko Bek Center for Education and Rehabilitation in 1985.

This typewriter features a standardized keyboard with six Bakelite keys and a roller mechanism for paper. In terms of writing style, it is similar to the Perkins Brailler.
