A printed thank-you note of the Croatian-Slavonian Economic Association given to Vinko Bek for his services in organizing the Jubilee Exhibition of Economy and Forestry in Zagreb in 1891.
Among the promotion activities of Vinko Bek, which were aimed to break down the prejudice against the blind, an important method were exhibitions related to typhlopedagogical issues. In 1891, the Croatian-Slavonian Economic Association organized a representative jubilee exhibition in Zagreb, celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding, which was supposed to show the structure of the economic activities in Croatia at that time. Bek managed to convince the board of organizers to include items of typhlological character in the set-up of the exhibition. Vinko Bek prepared the exhibition material and display, and this exhibition about the blind was formed into a special Blind Section. The main purpose of Bek’s exhibition was to show the public that the blind can learn a lot and that this is the main reason for opening an institute for the education of the blind.
