The Dark Room
The Dark Room is completely dark. It is intended for sighted visitors, and its goal is to recreate the experience of a space without the sense of sight, using the other senses such as hearing, smell, taste, and touch. The Dark Room is filled with objects and sensations we encounter daily, but navigating the space in darkness offers sighted visitors a completely new experience of everyday life.
At the entrance to the room, there are written and graphic instructions to help visitors prepare for easier movement in the dark. Tactile floor strips guide visitors through the space, but they also require full concentration to detect the tactile information.
Our goal is not only to simulate blindness for the sighted but also to demonstrate the possibilities and limitations of vision, introducing visitors to the story we develop in other parts of the exhibition.
